Shuttle Bus FAQs

Discovering the best of the Shropshire Hills is easy by bus. It needn't be a struggle, but you'll find the following useful to plan your trip.

What are the benefits?

Avoiding stressful driving situations

Driving in the Shropshire Hills can be challenging, especially if you leave the main roads and head up the narrow, twisty roads.

Relaxation & Discovery

Letting our drivers drive you allows you to relax, enjoy the views, chat, and discover the places you may find it difficult to find.

Taking your time

Jump off the bus for a pint, lunch or a cream tea in an idylic setting or historic pub. Our Shuttle passes the Horseshoes at Bridges, Crown and Inn on the Green at Wentnor, iconic Stiperstones Inn and Yew Tree Inn at All Stretton. They are perfect places to enjoy the best, home-cooked, locally sourced food and drink in the area. The timetable has been designed to allow you time to enjoy a Sunday lunch and find time for a walk before or after.

Affordable & Flexible Ticketing

We review our ticketing every year, keeping the value high and prices low. A Day Rover ticket allows you to get on and off throughout the day. Where else can you travel through inspirational landscape for as little as £6? The flexibility of our range of single tickets allows you to only pay for what you need. It's especially good for people who just need a lift into the hills and plan a rewarding walk back to your start point.

Accessibility

We run a 16-seater or 19-seater Mercedes Sprinter Minibus on the route. Both buses have three relatively steep steps into the bus. There is a handrail on the left. The buses are not modified for wheelchair use. There is no accessibility lift. Ask the driver for assistance if needed.

Foldable walkers and walker seats can usually be accommodated in the bus or folded into the luggage compartment.

Bringing dogs on the bus

We encourage passengers to bring their dogs provided they are not a nuisance to other passengers or the driver. Dogs travel free.

Pre-booked tickets

Tickets are bought from the driver for cash on the day of travel. We do not have the ability offer pre-booked tickets.

Paying by card or by electronic means

The service is cash only. Please bring the exact money if possible. There is a cash point at Church Stretton Post Office on Sandford Avenue (weekdays only) and at the Apple Garage on the A49/Platform 2 side of the railway tracks.

Days of the week

The bus runs on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Does the bus get full?

Room on the bus can be an issue on busy days and at busy times of day. We recommend that passengers who wish to walk, travel out on the bus and walk back to their start point. If you wish to get back on the bus, we recommend that you tell the driver your plans, and they will advise you. The final bus of the day is often busy on the return route from Snailbeach. The bus will have few seats available the closer it gets to Church Stretton. It may not be possible to re-board the bus between Stiperstones Car Park and Carding Mill Valley at the end of a busy day. The driver will do their best to manage this to avoid leaving people at stops.  The bus often runs at capacity in the first few weeks of the season and at the end of the season. Fewer people travel on Sundays as a rule. July is often our quietest month.
