New Route for the Shropshire Hills Shuttle
We would like to thank the many frequent shuttle bus users from the community who turned out to test the new timetable and provide feedback. It was generally felt that the new route, was more useful allowing greater opportunity to visit local businesses and attractions as well as more frequent access to central area of the Long Mynd and Stiperstones.
The service carried 9 passengers on Saturday and 25 on Sunday. It’s likely that the weather forecast for Saturday may have put people off, but the rain on Sunday did less to dampen passengers’ enthusiasm.
We had some excellent feedback from passengers, who have welcomed the new link to Wentnor and the opportunities that offers to visit the village and support its two pubs. We are also considering how to accommodate a change to the Sunday timetable to include a return trips to Little Stretton, at the request of local residents. More on that to follow…
We still need your help
If you have used the bus and have thoughts of how it can be improved please get in touch. You can either email us at shropshirehillsaonb@shropshire.gov.uk. You can also contact us through our Facebook page and leave a comment.
Please join our mailing list – next year we will be publishing a newsletter to keep the community informed of our plans for the service and promote activities and events along the route. We will also invite you to share your experiences of the shuttle and the many walks and other activities you enjoy whilst using it. If you’d like to join the mailing list please send us your email (address above).
Promote the bus to your friends and family – word of mouth remains the most effective way of promoting the bus within the community. Please help us to keep the bus running by telling people about the service and encouraging them to try it. Please share and like our Facebook posts and circulate the timetable to your neighbours. Maybe treat a friend to a day out by bus – the circuit provides some of the finest views anywhere in the county and the bus drivers are always courteous, friendly and accommodating.
Finally we’d like to thank Mick and all the team at Boultons Coaches for their excellent service. Special thanks to Shuttle drivers, Dave and Ken, who did an excellent job last weekend.
We look forward to welcoming you on board next season and your continued support. Details of start and finish dates, as well as the possibility of seasonal specials to follow.
Best wishes Nigel, Steph & Alison
