Shropshire Hills Young Rangers Starting Soon!

Are you, or do you know, a young person aged 12-16 who is interested in the environment and would like to do practical conservation tasks outdoors, learn some new skills and make new likeminded friends? Are you aged 15-18 and interested in a career in the environment but need some relevant experience?

Working together with South Shropshire Youth Forum, we are jointly delivering the Shropshire Hills Young Rangers project for young people throughout South Shropshire. Four new groups will be set up in the Bishops Castle/Clun, Craven Arms/Church Stretton, Pontesbury/Stiperstones and Clee Hill areas – but young people are welcome to join from anywhere in south Shropshire. Practical site-based sessions will run out of school at weekends or in the holidays, with some weekend courses such as hedgelaying/coppicing and occasional longer projects such as building a boardwalk or restoring a footpath.

If you are aged 15-18 you might be interested in our Leadership Working Group which will sit alongside the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership and have a role in developing and influencing the work of the Partnership – we’re looking for young people who are passionate about this local area and want to help protect and enhance its natural beauty and special landscape.

Interested? Please email Joy Howells joy.howells@shropshire.gov.uk for groups in Bishops Castle/Clun and Pontesbury/Stiperstones areas and for the Leadership Group, and Rich Morley richssyf@yahoo.com for groups in Clee Hill and Craven Arms/Church Stretton areas.

The project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund #ThanksToYou
