European Youth in Parks Day
Saturday 23rd September is European Youth in Parks Day when Parks and Protected Areas come together across Europe, to involve young people in their protection.
Connecting young people with our natural and cultural heritage has a positive impact on physical and mental health and helps create long-lasting relationships. European #YouthinParksDay aims to showcase what young people can do to contribute towards sustainable development and conservation in Protected Areas.
To celebrate the event here in the Shropshire Hills, our Young Rangers will be doing a variety of habitat management work at Nils Quarry Nature Reserve in Pontesbury. The aim is to help maintain the grassland/meadow area, coppice small trees and improve drainage in a wildlife pond – all very hands on!
Alongside this, the Young Rangers be installing some new interpretation boards at the site.
